The Thorns of War Update #22

Hello everyone

I’ve seen some questions in the comments and some people are asking for an update – I was hoping to wait until the end of the month, but here we are.

Guillaume’s route is in progress. Trying to keep spoilers to a minimum, Guillaume’s route splits into four paths towards the end (and then splits again the following in-game day) and writing all these paths, while ensuring they are all balanced and flow from an emotional, as well as a plot standpoint is taking time.

The current word count is 167,000, but there is still much more to go. With the addition of the 6 weeks of beta access added into what I already know is left to write/code, I believe the release date will be some time in Jan/Feb. Once the beta copy is released, I will be able to give the general release date.

I am sorry to everyone who wants to play the route – I want you to be able to play it too – we’re just not quite there yet.

Many thanks for your patience and please take care

Based on what I had seen and based on how much work you are putting in this route, I can tell it will be the best of the 3 released, the anticipation for this route for me is quite strong!

Also, please don't worry about how long it is taking to be released. You are putting so so so much work into this sequel. So much work into this route, I do not think anyone will ever fault you for taking a bit longer (and no one should, in all honesty.) and it makes sense, this is a pretty big route.

Thank you for the update, I hope you are doing well!

Ah, thank you for your kind feedback - I'm so glad everyone us being so patient when it comes to the route.

I hope you're doing well, too. ^_^

That makes total sense! And I'm even more excited to play the route now. I always assumed Guill/Leo's routes would take the longest to write (honestly I was surprised and impressed how quickly you cranked out the current routes!).

Ah, I'm glad to hear you are excited.

Hmm, I'm not sure about Leo's route taking long (I think I have a pretty strong idea of how it will go already), but I always knew Guillaume's would take while to write considering all the sources of conflict in his route, which is why I wanted to start it sooner rather than later. I hope it is worth the wait. ^_^

I appreciate the update!  That many branching routes sounds exciting and worth the wait.....I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that updates reassure us a lot, even if theres not a lot of "progress".  Take all the time you need........

Thank you - I’m glad you find the updates reassuring rather than a disappointment. I know I always feel a bit deflated when I have to post and it still isn't finished. But we are getting there... ^_^

I'm feeling like Sebastian from" Black Butler", waiting to savour Ciel's soul.
Can't wait to read your amazing work and knowing the more I will wait, the better it will be.  >_<

Ah, thank you – I really hope the route is worth the wait after all this build up. ^_^’

Keep your good work,  thank you for this update <3

Thank you for the encouragement ^_^

Thanks for letting us know!! <3 Can't wait to play it when it's finished!! Take care :)

I will - you take care, too, and thank you. ^_

Thanks for the news and good to know you keep your goal :-) We will be waiting :-)

Thank you for your patience ^_^

Thanks for the update and don't worry, I know most of us don't mind the wait because we know how much care you put in your work and Bastien and Sofia's routes speak for themselves in their quality. The art is also quite lovely, love the pretty hair!

Ah, thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed the first two routes. Yes, the artist has a lovely way of depicting scenes – I’ll pass your compliments on. ^_^

I've been following the updates on Kickstarter, but I just wanted to say here that each route is clearly ambitious & long, and the additional branching on Guillaume's route will complicate things too. So we understand that there will be delays, it's quite common for small indie teams! It can be quite stressful as well, so I hope you're taking care of yourself.

Ah, thank you, Bobcat.

Yes, I've been a bit more stressed about this route than the first two – I think because it has taken me so long. I really wanted to be finished by now, but I know rushing things will just ruin the work I have done. I just have to be patient with myself. >_<

Thank you for being so understanding - I hope the wait is worth it.

P.S. Your profile picture is très cuté ^_^
